The newly instituted Guitar Performance Option at Radford University is a program intended to prepare students for the wide array of performing situations available to today's professional guitarists.
Students of Robert Trent are competition winners, performers, recording artists and faculty at colleges and universities across the United States.

The Guitar Program is directed by Dr. Robert Trent, the first and only guitarist to receive the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

Students of Robert Trent are competition winners, performers, recording artists and are instructors (Westminster Choir College, Princeton NJ).
 
   
Performance opportunities are extensive. They may include the Guitar Ensemble Departmental Student Recitals, Junior/Senior Recitals, recitals that include musical collaborations with singers and instrumentalists, and possible performance with band or chamber orchestra.

PERFORMANCE CONCENTRATION
  All requirements for students selecting the Performance Concentration are outlined below. A minimum grade of “C” is required in MUSC 497 Undergraduate Recital for graduation.  
     
  General Education Requirements: 50
  Majors are required to take the following courses and are advised to take them as part of their General Education requirements:
